Facebook has removed my content for allegedly breaking its rules. It tells me my content goes against “Community Standards” but won’t say what the offending content was or even when it was posted.
Yes, you heard that right:
Facebook removed my content.
Facebook won’t say what content was removed.
Facebook won’t say when the content was posted.
Has my account been hacked?
Facebook won’t tell me anything.
One thing I know is I definitely never posted any "nudity or sexual activity".
How is somebody supposed to defend themself against false charges if the charges don’t even clarify exactly *when* or *what* actually took place that is criminal?
And there’s no “innocence until proven guilty” on Facebook. You’re just guilty. Facebook does have an appeals process but it’s a complete joke. For example, in 2021, Facebook deleted my content, accusing me of hate speech for simply quoting a transgender activist’s own hateful speech. According to Facebook’s own guidelines that’s not supposed to constitute a violation. Nevertheless, my appeal was rejected.
I believe the removed content was a recent article featuring an image of a scantily clad but fully clothed Russel Brand and Cardi B. It’s the only thing I’ve posted recently that shows any skin. Ironically, the article explores the absurdity of arbitrarily punishing someone without trial—something it seems I experienced myself for merely posting the story. My appeal was rejected immediately, as usual.
I’ve experienced this Orwellian censorship from Facebook many times before, but it’s not just happening to me. It happens among Facebook’s billions of monthly users every single day. With over 3 BILLION active monthly users—double the population of China—Facebook is the largest totalitarian authority in the world. YouTube has slightly less with over 2 billion monthly users. So as much as I report on YouTube’s Orwellian policies, congratulations, Facebook, you’re still the absolute worst.
Keep it coming, Orf!
