Is “vermin” a Nazi word? Well, that’s been the narrative since mainstream media outlets crank out story after story quoting Donald Trump’s use of the word “vermin” to accuse him yet again of being the new Adolph Hitler. But the current President Joe Biden, Trump’s 2024 opponent, also used the v-word.
During a speech on Nov. 11, Trump referred to his political opponents, both communists, and fascists, as “vermin”.
TRUMP: We will root out the communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country…
NPR wrote that “This language of rooting out vermin,” is “authoritarian.” Virtually all mainstream media outlets cited Trump’s “vermin” comments to say Trump "echoed Hitler". The Biden administration followed suit comparing Trump to Hitler for the "vermin" comment.
Well, it turns out Joe Biden also called for rooting out bigoted “vermin” among communists (“Reds”) and fascists (“Browns”), during a U.S. Senate hearing in 1999 on anti-semitism in Russia.
BIDEN: I think the best disinfectant to deal with these vermin is to expose them...The Reds and the Browns in the Duma…
Naturally, NPR (and virtually every mainstream media outlet) wrote that Trump’s “vermin” quote “echoes language Hitler used” in the 1930s, ignoring the current President Joe Biden’s more recent use of the word to dehumanize opponents in the 1990s.
Of course, it wasn’t just Biden who used the v-word before Trump to describe ideological enemies. The Washington Post, and others, have used the same language to compare Trump and the Republicans to rodents for years.
Apparentley, you’re only allowed to use Hitler’s v-word to dehumanize people if they're Russian, accused of antisemitism, or Republican.
Called 'em "vermin", did they both now?
Guess it takes one to know one.
