After two years of memory-holing history and deleting free expression concerning election integrity, YouTube updated its “election misinformation” policy.
YOUTUBE 6/2/23: “Two years, tens of thousands of video removals, and one election cycle later, we recognized it was time to reevaluate the effects of this policy in today's changed landscape…With that in mind, and with 2024 campaigns well underway, we will stop removing content that advances false claims that widespread fraud, errors, or glitches occurred in the 2020 and other past US Presidential elections.”
So what caused YouTube to suddenly realize this mass censorship was “curtailing political speech”—a conclusion so obvious it’s impossible to believe it took YouTube years to conclude. My guess is it’s a last-ditch attempt to slow the traffic to less totalitarian platforms like Twitter and Rumble, which is picking this 2024 presidential election cycle.
The lessening of YouTube’s Orwellian thought control is good news but let’s not forget: YouTube deleted real history for years with their disgraceful "election misinformation" censorship policy, including a video of mine.
My “‘Rigged’ Election Claims | Trump 2020 vs Clinton 2016” video showed election fraud claims from both Democrats and Republicans. In no way did I advance or endorse any of the claims. Nevertheless, for simply documenting and comparing this history, YouTube deleted my video last year and gave me a strike—a step toward deleting my entire channel.
To find out if YouTube’s policies have indeed changed, I re-uploaded the video that YouTube previously deleted in November 2022.
It was not deleted but it was immediately demonetized. Although, three days after I appealed, it was finally deemed “suitable”.
This change is welcome. Although, YouTube’s credibility may be permanently shot. They’ve made no commitment to not adopt such authoritarian policies again in the future (so please follow me on Rumble!).
I don’t know of any widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election, but I do know that the systemic censorship of election fraud claims enables real voter fraud, by providing the perfect totalitarian conditions for actual election fraud to take place. It’s easy to get away with murder if everyone who ever speaks of it is instantly silenced.
"It’s easy to get away with murder if everyone who ever speaks of it is instantly silenced." or murdered.
Great job. I followed you on Rumble. Love your videos. So thorough and condemning.
